Haldi/Holi
A Celebration of Blessings & Colors
The Haldi ceremony is a joyful and sacred pre-wedding ritual where loved ones gather to apply a turmeric (haldi) paste to the bride and groom. The ceremony starts with the preparation of the haldi paste. It is traditionally made from fresh turmeric roots. During the ceremony, loved ones take turns applying the paste to the bride and groom’s face, neck, arms, and feet. This golden paste is believed to bless the couple with prosperity, glowing skin, and protection from evil as they prepare to begin a new chapter together. After the haldi is applied, it’s customary for the couple to undergo a ceremonial bath with water poured by family members. The cleansing symbolizes the removal of impurities and preparation for the sacred wedding ceremony.
We will continue Haldi ceremony with a Holi celebration, where you will get to throw colored water and powders on one another, dance to upbeat music, and enjoy festive energy together.

Muhurtham
The Wedding Ceremony
The Muhurtham is the heart of the wedding day, the sacred ceremony where the bride and groom officially become husband and wife through a series of meaningful rituals conducted around a holy fire (Agni). The fire acts as a divine witness to the vows taken and is central to many of the rites performed. The couple performs the Saptapadi or “seven steps,” where they circle the fire seven times, each round representing a promise they make to each other for a harmonious life.
During the Muhurtham, a priest chants ancient mantras invoking blessings of health, happiness, and prosperity. The groom ties the mangalsutra (sacred necklace) around the bride’s neck, symbolizing their marital bond, and the couple may exchange rings and perform other region-specific customs. This ceremony is deeply spiritual and traditionally solemn, filled with reverence for the sacred union being formed.
The Grooves
We suggest elegant and traditional Indian attire such as sarees for women, and kurta pajamas or dhoti for men.
